I want be a parent that...
Following an inspiring church ladies panel this evening about parenting teens, I have a few takeaways. I was going to write it in the form of "I want to raise children that..." but I think it's better if I focus on what I personally can control - myself. So:
I want to be a parent that teaches my children to love the Lord.
I want to be a parent that prays.
I want to be a parent that listens well to my children.
I want to be a parent that is secure in my own relationship with God, so as to lead out of that.
I want to be a parent that teaches my children to live for the long-term.
I want to be a parent that is always teaching... line upon line, precept upon precept.
I want to be a parent that learns from those around me.
I want to be a parent that acknowledges my need for God and for other people to fill in my gaps.
I want to be a parent that raises children who care for others and care about others.
I want to be a parent that raises children who take ownership for their actions and in their decisions.
