so walk in Him

She had followed me all over the house all morning by that point, up the stairs, down the stairs, cleaning out that closet, then that one, inside, outside. "Why do I always have to be behind?", she asked. "Why can't I go first?"

"Well," I said, "I'm the only one who knows where we're going."

And just like that, God gently reminded me that that's the reason HE goes first too. Because He is the only one who knows the way to the ultimate goal. But the beautiful part is that while I am finite and can only choose front or back - He is both the Alpha AND the Omega and goes in front and behind, first and last. He is the one opening the doors and closing them behind me, winding through hallways until we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and never moving so fast that He is out of reach.

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding with thanksgiving." (Colossians 1:6-7)

Thankful today for:

• sunshine

• productivity and energy

• space enough in my schedule to tackle even the things that I leave for last. :)

• bread in the freezer

• food to serve for breakfast and send in lunches

• inspiration

• clarity of mind

• God's hand in a meeting

• photos from the past that remind me of growth

• hope of spring
